Who We Are: Couples for Christ (CFC) - DC Chapter is an international movement intended for the renewal and strengthening of Christian family life. The members have committed themselves to the Lord and to one another so that they may grow in maturity as men and women of God and fulfill their primary vocation of raising up families under the lordship of Jesus Christ and for the service of the Kingdom of God. CFC is a work of Christ which raises up Christian couples and establishes Christian families committed to the work and evangelization, winning the world for Christ and Total Human Liberation through the power of the Holy Spirit. It grows mainly through the establishment of localized units in different parishes
CFC is highly evangelistic driven by its global vision of “Families in the Holy Spirit Renewing the Face of the Earth” and sustained by its core values of “Pro-God, Pro-Family, Pro-Life and Pro-Poor.”
It has five (5) family ministries namely: Kids for Christ (for children ages 4-12), Youth for Christ (for children ages 13-21), Singles for Christ (for single men and women ages 22-40), Handmaids of the Lord (for widows, mature women, divorced women and single mothers), and Servants of the Lord (for widowers, mature single men, divorced men and single fathers). In addition, it has a social ministry called ANCOP (Answering the Cry Of the Poor) to address the needs of the materially poor.
CFC accomplishes its mission by vigorously pursuing its four global goals of 1) Evangelization and Formation, 2) Family Renewal, 3) Total Christian Liberation, and 4) Effective and Efficient Governance.
Membership in CFC begins upon completion of the Christian Life Program (CLP). The CLP is an integrated course intended to lead participantsinto a renewed understanding of God's call to you as Christian couples. Each session consists of a teaching, group discussion and fellowship. Members are made part of a small cell group called a Household which meets regularly for encouragement and mutual support in their Christian life.
CFC provides a continuing program of pastoral and spiritual formation which includes Church teachings, Scriptures, Christian relationships, recollections and retreats. CFC is a working model for the development of Basic Ecclesial Communities and can hasten the formation of a strong and vibrant parish community.
